Wardogs Best Helmet and Armor Combinations by Role

The highest armor level is not always the best pick in Wardogs. Weight adds up fast, and each weight class slows you down and weakens your aim accuracy.

This guide matches helmet and armor levels to six roles: Hot Zone, Support, Sniper, FOB Builder, Logistic Driver and Pilot.

Quick Picks

RoleHelmet + ArmorWeight
Hot ZoneLevel 3 + Level 313.5kg (Light)
SupportLevel 3 + Level 27.5kg (Lightest)
SniperLevel 2 + Level 26.1kg (Lightest)
FOB BuilderLevel 3 + Level 313.5kg (Light)
Logistic DriverLevel 2 + Level 26.1kg (Lightest)
PilotLevel 2 + Level 14.6kg (Lightest)

These totals count only the helmet and armor. Your weapons and gear add more on top.

Hot Zone Players (Close Range)

Hot zone players take the most damage and fight at close range. They need strong protection, but medium weights adds 5% to ADS time and cuts stamina regen by 35%.

  • Main build: Level 3 helmet + Level 3 armor (13.5kg, Light).
  • Heavy build: Level 3 helmet + Level 4 armor (21kg, Medium), for holding passive playstyle.

The main build leaves 3.5kg for weapons and gear before Medium. The heavy build leaves 6kg before Heavy disables Tac sprint.

Skip the level 4 helmet here. Its limited vision and muffled sound make close range fights harder.

Support Players (Medium Range)

Support players fight at medium range outside the hot zone and reposition often. Staying in the lightest keeps them at full speed for rotating.

  • Main build: Level 3 helmet + Level 2 armor (7.5kg, Lightest).
  • Lighter build: Level 2 helmet + Level 2 armor (6.1 kg, Lightest).
  • Heavier build: Level 3 helmet + Level 3 armor (13.5kg, Light).

Light starts at 10kg, so the main builds leaves 2.5kg for weapons and gear. The lighter build leaves 3.9kg.

Level 3 armor moves you into Light. That costs 5% max speed and 14% stamina regen, it's barely noticeable in game play.

Snipers (Long Range)

Snipers fight at long range and relocate between shots. Aim sway grows with every weight class, so staying light helps steady your shots.

  • Main build: Level 2 helmet + Level 2 armor (6.1kg, Lightest).
  • Lighter build: Level 2 helmet + Level 1 armor (4.6kg, Lightest).

Your rifle and gear count toward the 10kg limit. Add their weight to the armor total before you leave HQ.

Avoid the Level 4 helmet. Limited vision and muffled sound make it harder to scan for targets.

FOB Builders

FOB builders defend the base against raiders mostly stay in one area. A heavy build costs less when you rarely sprint across the map.

  • Main build: Level 3 helmet + Level 3 armor (13.5kg, Light), for building and moving around the base.
  • Defense build: Level 3 helmet + Level 4 armor (21kg, Medium), for holding the FOB against raiders.

Stay under 27kg. heavy makes lean time 50% longer and disabled Tac Sprint, which hurts when raiders arrive.

Keep level 3 helmet so you can see and hear raiders approach. A level 4 helmet adds only 1.5kg but nerf both vision and sound.

Logistic Drivers

Logistic Drivers move supplies by vehicle and unload it at the FOB. They need to get in and out quickly or sometime they have to unload the supplies themselves.

  • Main build: Level 2 helmet + Level 2 armor (6.1kg, Lightest).
  • Heavier build: Level 3 helmet + Level 2 armor (7.5kg, Lightest), if you leave the vehicle often.

Both builds stay in the Lightest with room for a weapon. Going over 10kg costs 5% max speed and 14% stamina regen on foot.

Pilot

Pilots spend most of the match in the aircraft, so body armor matters less. Clear vision and sound matter more.

  • Main build: Level 2 helmet + Level 1 armor (4.6kg, Lightest).
  • Lightest build: Level 1 helmet + Level 1 armor (4kg, Lightest).

Both builds leave over 5kg for weapons and gear before light.

Skip the Level 4 helmet. Limited vision is a poor trade in a role that depends on seeing the grounds.

How Weight Classes Work

Everything you carry counts toward your total weight. The total decides your weight class, and a heavier class hurts your mobility and stamina.

ClassWeight RangeKey Effect
Lightest0 - 10kgNo effect
Light10 - 17kg5% lower max speed
Medium17 - 27kg12% lower max speed
Heavy27 - 40kgTac Sprint disabled
Super Heavy40kg +  Sprint disabled

Each class adds penalties on top of the previous one:

  • Light: max speed 5% lower, jump 5% lower, aim sway amount 1% higher, aim sway speed 4% higher, stamina regen 14% lower.
  • Medium: max speed 19% lower, jump 10% lower, aim sway amount 8% higher, aim sway speed 10% higher, stamina regen 35% lower, ADS time 5% longer.
  • Heavy: max speed 19% lower, lean time 50% longer, jump 14% longer, Tac Sprint disabled.
  • Super Heavy: max speed 19% lower, lean time 50% longer, jump 35% lower, aim sway amount 20% higher, aim sway speed 25% higher, ADS time 16% longer, Tac Sprint and Sprint disabled.

You can improve key effect like sprint disabled and tac sprint disabled with adrenaline pen but it only last a short time, so you need to bring a lot of it.

Why Weight Matters

A Level 4 helmet and Level 4 armor weights 22.5 kg, which already puts you in Medium. Only 4.5 kg of weapons and gear pushes you into Heavy and disabled Tac sprint.

Staying under 10kg avoids every penalty. Roles that move a lot should aim for that limit.

Helmet and Armor Weight

LevelHelmetArmor
Level 11kg3kg
Level 21.6kg4.5kg
Level 33kg10.5kg
Level 44.5kg18kg

Armor weight jumps sharply at Level 3. It weights 10.5kg, more than double level 2 armor at 4.5kg, and Level 4 adds another 7.5kg.

Helmets stay light by comparison. The gap between Level 3 and Level 4 is only 1.5kg.

What Each Level Protects

Helmets

  • Level 1: low damage reduction, protects the head.
  • Level 2: medium damage reduction, protects the head.
  • Level 3: high damage reduction, protects the head and neck, low suppression reduction.
  • Level 4: a very high damage reduction, protects the head and neck, strongly muffles sound, limited version.

Armor

  • Level 1: low damage reduction, protects the upper and lower torso.
  • Level 2: medium damage reduction, protects the upper and lower torso.
  • Level 3: high damage reduction, protects the upper and lower torso, heavy plate carrier built for frontline fighting.
  • Level 4: very high damage reduction, protects the upper and lower torso, upper arms and pelvis.

Final Tips

In conclusion, Weight decides how fast and steady you play, so check these limits before you lock in a loadout.

  • Add your weapon and gear weight to the armor total before you decide.
  • Stay under 10kg for no penalties and under 17kg to stay in Light.
  • Stay under 27g to keep Tac Sprint.
  • Use heavy armor when you hold a position and light armor when you move around a lot.

Choose your weight limit first, the spend whatever weight is left on armor.
